US Dollar Wechselkurs in Syrien
The US dollar is the axis every other Syrian pound rate turns around. USD/SYP is the only pair quoted directly in the Syrian market; every other pair on this site is derived from it as a cross rate.
That is why a move in the dollar shifts the entire table at once. If you see the euro or the riyal change with no news out of Europe or Saudi Arabia, this is usually where it came from.
The dollar is also the pair where the gap between the official rate and the parallel market is clearest — and that gap decides how much of an incoming remittance actually reaches the recipient through a formal channel.
Frequently asked questions about the US Dollar
Why does the dollar rate differ between sites?
Usually because one is quoting the central bank bulletin and the other the parallel market, or because one shows the buy price and the other the sell price. City and timestamp can also account for it.
How much is 100 dollars in Syrian pounds?
Multiply the amount by the sell price shown above. Note the rate is in new pounds; multiply by a further 100 for the old-pound equivalent.
Is the dollar rate the same in Damascus and Aleppo?
Not necessarily. It varies slightly by city with local cash supply, and the gap widens when transport or liquidity is disrupted.
Why does a remittance recipient get fewer pounds than this rate suggests?
Because formal channels convert incoming transfers at the official rate rather than the parallel rate, under Central Bank Decision No. 235 of 2026.
